GIVE BLOOD, SAVE LIVES - Blood Donation Campaign @HKUST

An ad hoc blood donation team will be visiting HKUST next Thursday. Let’s show our support for the community and give blood! If donating is not feasible for you right now, stay tuned for our series of HKUST 35A Blood Drives coming up next year!

You may come anytime within the above-mentioned period with your HKID card or valid travel document. You are welcome to donate blood if you satisfy all the following conditions:

1. have a good health
2. weight over 41kg (90lbs or above)
3. aged between 16 and 65 (applicable for first time donor)

Remarks

• To protect both blood donors and recipients, the Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) must stringently screen donors (health history questionnaire, hemoglobin and blood pressure checking etc.) and shall only accept blood donations from those who meet all the set eligibility criteria.
• Donors aged 16 to 17 need to have parental consent at the first donation and can give blood two times a year with an interval of no less than 150 days between two consecutive donations.
• Adult males (18 or above) can give four times in a year with an interval of no less than 75 days between consecutive two donations.
• Adult females (18 or above) can give three times in a year with an interval of no less than 105 days between consecutive two donations.
• With the annual health assessment and approval by the BTS medical officer, donors aged 66 or above who have completed any donation in the last 2 years, can be accepted for whole blood donation till 75.
